The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a resurfacing project on U.S. 36 in Republic County on Monday, May 12.
The project will involve a mill and overlay on U.S. 36 from the Jewell/Republic county line, continuing east approximately 16 miles, to just east of U.S. 81.
During construction, flaggers and a pilot car will guide one lane of traffic through construction at a reduced speed. Drivers should be prepared for a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules.
Hall Brothers Inc., of Marysville, is the prime contractor for the $3.1 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in late July, weather permitting.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. Updates on highway projects in north central Kansas, are available at NewsReleases/District2- north central Kansas.
