Three Killed in Kiowa County Crash on U.S. 54

GREENSBURG, Kan. (May 8, 2025) – A tragic accident in Kiowa County on Wednesday afternoon claimed the lives of three individuals. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported that the fatal collision occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on U.S. 54, approximately nine miles west of Greensburg.

According to the KHP report, a 2000 Ford F150 driven by Teresa Christine Davis, 68, of Meade, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of the highway. An eastbound 2026 Freightliner semi, operated by Dishant Kukreja, 22, of Sunnyvale, California, reportedly moved left of center in an attempt to avoid the pickup truck.

The pickup then reentered the westbound lane, resulting in a collision with the semi.

Teresa Christine Davis and her two passengers, identified as 13-year-old Travis Welch and 10-year-old Hunter Welch, both of Meade, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the semi, Dishant Kukreja, was reported to have sustained no injuries. The KHP also stated that all four individuals involved in the crash were properly restrained at the time of the collision.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
