Munden To Mark America’s 250th Birthday With All-Day Community Celebration June 20th

MUNDEN, Kan. — The community of Munden will mark America’s 250th birthday with an all-day celebration June 20 featuring meals, a parade, family activities and evening entertainment.

The event is being organized by local volunteers and community organizations as part of the nationwide observance of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Activities begin with breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Community Center, sponsored by the Munden Booster Club. A parade will follow at 10 a.m.

Lunch will be served at noon and is sponsored by ProHoe, Loren Kisby and Judy Kisby. A freewill donation will be accepted. A bake sale and cake walk also are planned.

Children’s games sponsored by Novy Munden 4-H will be held in the park from 1 to 4 p.m. Face painting will also be available during the afternoon, provided by members of the local art club. Bingo for adults will take place at the Community Center during the same hours.

Kolaches will be available throughout the day, with proceeds benefiting the Munden Community Foundation. Food trucks, snow cones and FFA ice cream also will be available.

The celebration will continue with a supper from 5 to 6 p.m., sponsored by Zion Munden Church. A freewill donation will be accepted.

The event concludes with music from 7 to 10 p.m. featuring DJ Dustin Dana with PureSound. Evening entertainment is sponsored by the Munden City Council.

Organizers invite residents, former residents and visitors from surrounding communities to attend the celebration.
