“Senior Saturday,” an event tailored for senior citizens aged 60 and above, will be Saturday, August 10, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art, 201 South 9th Street, Marysville. The two-hour casual gathering promises a morning of great company and delicious food.
The event is sponsored by the Marshall County Arts Cooperative and Sunflower Medical Clinic.
“We’ve been hosting Senior Saturday for over a year now, and it’s incredible to see how much it’s grown,” said Hannah Schroller Simpson, the arts cooperative’s vice president. “It’s a great way for us to connect with our supporters. The enthusiasm and participation have been truly inspiring, and we’re excited to continue offering these enriching experiences.”
The current exhibition at the art center is “Senior Pictures.” As the new school year begins, the exhibit offers a look back at the senior portraits of past graduates. This exhibit showcases senior portraits from community members spanning multiple decades.
Visitors are invited to participate in a guessing game, where they can test their knowledge by identifying the individuals in the photographs. The collection has a diverse range of pictures.
“People will have fun guessing who’s who in this collection,” said Schroller Simpson.
Senior Saturday offers senior citizens private access to the current exhibition.
“This event allows seniors to explore our current exhibition,” Schroller Simpson, said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our seniors to reminisce and share stories.”
Senior Saturday also provides a complimentary breakfast of freshly prepared breakfast foods and beverages. Breakfast casseroles, biscuits and gravy, fruit and breakfast sweets will be served.
The Lee Dam Center for Fine Art is owned by the City of Marysville and managed by the arts cooperative. It is a community art space dedicated to promoting and fostering artistic expression within the community. Through exhibitions, workshops and events, the center aims to create an inclusive space for individuals of all ages to connect, appreciate and engage with the arts.
