1A Sub-State Basketball Brackets Set For Area Teams

Area basketball teams wind down regular season play, and 1A playoff brackets were released. Boys’ teams tip off Thursday, and girls Friday this week, with semifinals the following Thursday/Friday, and championships Saturday march 2.

Top seed Axtell boys 16-2 with a first round bye in the Blue Valley sub-state, second seed Hanover boys 15-4 host St. Xavier 4-12 Thursday at 7, third seed Linn 11-8 is home to Southern Cloud 5-11 on Thursday, and Pike Valley will host Blue Valley.

Frankfort boys 10-9 are fourth seed, hosting fifth seed Washington County 7-12 Thursday at 7.

Centralia boys 15-4 are top seed, with a first round bye in the Doniphan West sub-state

Top seed Hanover girls 16-4 and second seed Pike Valley 7-9 receive a first round bye in the Blue Valley sub-state, while third seed Axtell girls 8-11 will host Southern Cloud 0-16 Friday (2/23) 7 pm, and fourth seed Linn girls 8-12 host Blue Valley 7-11 Friday at 7.

Top seed Frankfort girls 16-3 and second seed Osborne 15-3 receive first round byes in the Rock Hills sub-state, while third seed Clifton-Clyde 15-5 will host Lakeside Downs 5-11 Friday, and fifth seed Washington County girls 8-11 tip Friday at Rock Hills 9-8 at 7 pm.

Centralia girls 17-2 are top seed in the Doniphan West sub-state and have a first round bye.

Marysville is in the Riley County 3A sub-state, and the MHS girls will be the 8 seed, likely opening play at top seed Silver Lake. MHS boys look to open play either at Nemaha Central or Rossville, pending Tuesday night finals for those teams.

Valley Heights girls will be top seed in the Wabaunsee 2A sub-state, and will likely host winless Republic County first round, while the Valley Heights boys will likely travel to Lincoln or Jackson Heights for first round, pending the Tuesday finals.
