KD Country 94 and Classic Rock Z-96.3 Announce New ABC News Radio Affiliation

GLEN ELDER, KAN. — Listeners to KD Country 94 and Classic Rock Z-96.3 will soon hear a new voice at the top of every hour, as both stations announce a new affiliation with ABC News Radio beginning Monday, April 20, 2026.

The move comes as CBS News Radio prepares to cease operations, prompting stations across the country to transition to new network partners. The switch ensures continued delivery of national and international news coverage for local audiences.

ABC News Radio, described as “America’s No. 1 source for news,” is the nation’s largest commercial radio news provider, serving more than 1,400 stations and digital platforms. The network has earned recognition from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) for Overall Excellence in Network Radio and is widely regarded as a leader in broadcast journalism.

Under the new affiliation, KD Country 94 and Z-96.3 will carry top-of-the-hour newscasts around the clock, keeping listeners informed with breaking news, in-depth reporting, and national updates. In addition to hourly newscasts, programming will include the network’s business-focused segments “Wall Street Now,” airing during morning, midday, and afternoon dayparts.

This expanded affiliation means all Sunflower State Radio stations are now unified under a single news provider, enhancing consistency and coverage across a wide geographic footprint. The network reaches listeners from Nemaha County in northeast Kansas westward across the state to Decatur County, covering communities along U.S. Highway 36, K-9, and portions of U.S. 24. The Sunflower State Radio Network includes KNDY AM & FM in Marysville, KDNS & KZDY in Glen Elder, as well as KQNK AM & FM in Norton.

Station officials say the move strengthens their commitment to delivering reliable, up-to-the-minute information to the communities they serve.

“Partnering with ABC News Radio allows us to deliver trusted journalism from one of the most respected names in broadcasting,” station officials said. “We’re excited to bring this enhanced news coverage to our audience every hour of the day.”

Listeners can expect a seamless transition when ABC News Radio officially launches on both stations at 12:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20.
