KANSAS — Fire crews across the state were kept busy on Sunday as they worked to contain multiple wildfires, with high winds creating challenging conditions for suppression efforts.
In Hamilton County, local firefighting crews were bolstered by the arrival of Tanker 95 and DFMO Williams to help combat a blaze that ignited when burning silage and hay bales produced embers. These embers were quickly carried by strong winds into nearby grass, allowing the fire to spread rapidly.
Crews were successful in halting the forward progress of the Hamilton County fire. Firefighters remained on the scene throughout the day to monitor the area and patrol for any potential flare-ups.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Authorities have not released further details regarding the fires.
