Arrest Made in Thanksgiving Day Murder Case

SHAWNEE COUNTY, Kan. – Shawnee County law enforcement officials have announced an arrest in connection with the Thanksgiving Day murder of a Tecumseh woman.

On November 28, 2024, deputies responded to a call at a residence in Tecumseh and discovered the body of 50-year-old Monica B. McKay, according to Shawnee County Sheriff Brian Hill. An investigation into her death began immediately.

After a months-long investigation, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrested 53-year-old Brian P. McKay, also of Tecumseh, on February 11. He is currently being held on requested charges of stalking, violation of a protection order, aggravated burglary, and first-degree murder.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office has not released any details regarding the relationship between the suspect and the victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
