Marysville Teen Injured In Single-Vehicle Crash In Shawnee County

SHAWNEE COUNTY, KS – A Sunday afternoon crash at the junction of U.S. 75 and U.S. 24 Highways left two teenagers injured after their vehicle struck bridge supports.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. when 18-year-old Cylus Conser of Valley Falls was attempting to merge onto eastbound U.S. 24 from southbound U.S. 75. While merging, Conser lost control of his Nissan Xterra, causing the vehicle to fishtail.

The SUV veered off the roadway and collided with a cement bridge pillar. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to spin clockwise before striking a second cement pillar.

Emergency responders transported Conser to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka with what investigators described as suspected serious injuries. His passenger, 18-year-old Adrian Gardner of Marysville, sustained suspected minor injuries. The Highway Patrol report did not indicate that Gardner required hospitalization.

The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to monitor the incident. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
