Man Arrested In Connection with July 15 Topeka Homicide

SHAWNEE COUNTY — An arrest has been made in connection with the July 15 homicide of Terry Keller, according to the Topeka Police Department.

Authorities announced Wednesday the arrest of 24-year-old Wisdom Curls of Topeka. Curls has been transferred to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections and is facing requested charges of Murder in the 1st degree (intentional and premeditated), Aggravated Robbery, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

The investigation began just before 7 p.m. on July 15, when Topeka police officers patrolling near the Central Park Community Center, located at 1534 SW Clay Street, discovered a suspicious vehicle. A subsequent investigation of the vehicle led to the discovery of a deceased man, later identified as 72-year-old Terry Keller. The day after the discovery, police officially ruled Keller’s death a homicide.

Assistant Topeka Police Chief Mike Cross stated that the arrest of Curls was the result of a “digital canvas” of the neighborhood, which helped police identify a person of interest in the case.
