New “To the Stars” Standard License Plate to Begin Appearing on Kansas Vehicles

The Kansas Department of Revenue has introduced the "To the Stars" standard license plate, which won 53% of the public vote in December 2023. Featuring the Statehouse Dome against a blue, white, and yellow gradient, the design replaces the current "Ad Astra" plates. Kansas Department of Revenue Reveals Winning Personalized License Plate Design

The Kansas Department of Revenue has announced the winning design for the next personalized license plate, featuring the iconic Flint Hills. After receiving over 30,000 votes, the Flint Hills design emerged as the clear favorite with more than 56% of the vote. The new plate will be available for purchase in 2025 for $45.50, while the current "Powering the Future" design will no longer be available after Jan. 1, 2025. May Total Tax Collections at $658.9 Million; 22.7% Below the Estimate

In May, Kansas's tax collections were $193.0 million (22.7%) below the estimate, with individual income tax collections at $305.2 million (32.2%) lower than estimated. Corporate income tax collections were $39.8 million (57.2%) below the estimate. Despite this, retail sales and compensating use tax receipts were slightly above the estimate. Total tax collections for FY 2024 through May are $8.977 billion, $92.0 million (1.0%) below the estimate.
