Missing Barton County Man Found Safe In Osborne County

BARTON COUNTY, Kan. — A statewide Silver Alert issued for an elderly Barton County man has been canceled after authorities confirmed he was found safe.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation that 87-year-old Ronald Base was located safely in Osborne County, Kansas. Officials did not release additional details about where or when he was found.

The alert had been issued Sunday after Base was reported missing and his whereabouts were unknown.

According to authorities, Base was last seen south of Great Bend on March 9 at approximately 3:40 p.m. He was believed to be driving a gray 2010 Dodge Dakota with Kansas license plate 5736ACK. Investigators also noted that Base has Alzheimer’s disease and was believed to be traveling to Culver, Kansas.

Base was described as a white male around 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. At the time he was last seen, he was wearing gray pants, a gray shirt, a red and gray flannel jacket, and black shoes.

Officials thanked the public for their assistance and attention during the alert.
