Grand Opening of Shady Bend Park in Osborne

The NCK Outdoors crew revamped the Shady Bend Trails and Park in Osborne, Kansas, adding 4 miles of sustainable hiking and biking trails, a new trailhead and staging area, picnic area, and nature interpretive trail. The project includes beginner to advanced trails and a river view, funded by a grant from the Osborne County Community Foundation. Opening scheduled for June 2 at 2-4 p.m.

Cloud Co. Comm. College Lowering Cost Of Dual Credit Classes

Cloud County Community College is making college more accessible for high school students by waiving fees for dual credit courses starting fall 2024. President Amber Knoettgen emphasizes accessibility and affordability, saving families $141 per three-credit hour course. Tuttle Creek Lake Levels Rebound After Falling Nearly 10 Feet Below Normal Levels

Tuttle Creek Lake near Manhattan has seen a significant rise in water levels, reaching 1,079.99 feet due to heavy rain, 5 feet above normal. The increase is from combined inflow of 3 rivers and a peak inflow of 12,000 cubic feet per second. Engineers are releasing 1,370 cubic feet per second downstream. Outflow is projected to reach 5,000 cubic feet per second, lowering the lake level to 1,078.38 feet.

Dierking Communications, Inc. invested in radio stations in north central Kansas, including KD Country 94 and Z-96.3 The Lake. The stations, under new ownership since 2006, have undergone technological upgrades led by General Manager Wade Gerstner. High Speed Chase Through Clay & Washington Counties Leads To Arrest Of Washington State Escapee

On April 22nd, a high-speed pursuit spanning Clay and Washington counties involved a suspect vehicle reaching speeds over 100 mph, forcing vehicles off the road. Despite Stop Sticks being deployed in the Linn area, the vehicle evaded them and caused a patrol car accident. The pursuit ended with the suspect vehicle crashing, resulting in injuries to all three occupants. The driver, Robert D Allen, had a felony warrant from Washington State and is now in custody.

Kansas governor follows through on threat to veto bipartisan tax plan, will call special session

Gov. Laura Kelly vetoed a bipartisan tax plan, calling for a special session to reach a compromise.
