Manhattan Woman Injured in Overnight Shooting

The Riley County Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 12:20 this morning, April 23, 2024, reporting a shooting in the 1400 block of Watson Pl. in Manhattan.

Riley County Police Officers responded to the scene and found a female victim, age 20, with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The victim was transported via air ambulance to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. There are no further updates on her condition at this time.

The investigation into this case is ongoing.  Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. Using Crime Stoppers allows you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

In 2020 he moved to Audacy, formerly known as Entercom Communications, Inc. and 106.5 The Wolf and 610 Sports Radio, the new flagship stations of the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, the largest radio network in the NFL. Through all of this, Derek continues to serve as the Digital Media Director for Sunflower State Radio, the digital and social media operations of Dierking Communications, Inc. and the 6 radio stations it owns and operates across Kansas.

Tuttle Creek Lake Levels Rebound After Falling Nearly 10 Feet Below Normal Levels

Tuttle Creek Lake near Manhattan has seen a significant rise in water levels, reaching 1,079.99 feet due to heavy rain, 5 feet above normal. The increase is from combined inflow of 3 rivers and a peak inflow of 12,000 cubic feet per second. Engineers are releasing 1,370 cubic feet per second downstream. Outflow is projected to reach 5,000 cubic feet per second, lowering the lake level to 1,078.38 feet.
