Royals Wrap Up Series Win Against Angels With 4-2 Victory Sunday

Seth Lugo had an exceptional performance on Sunday, achieving a career-high 12 strikeouts and only allowing one run in eight innings. Hunter Renfroe, facing his former team, contributed with a two-run single that helped the Kansas City Royals secure a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Freddie Fermin and Michael Massey also played crucial roles, each delivering RBIs during the Royals’ four-run fourth inning.

Lugo’s pitching prowess was on full display as he limited the Angels to five hits, showcasing why he is a valuable asset to the Royals. With this win, Lugo improved his record to an impressive 6-1, making him the American League’s leader in wins with a record of six victories in eight starts. Additionally, his earned run average (ERA) now stands at an AL-best 1.66, highlighting his consistency and effectiveness on the mound.

Despite some initial control challenges, Lugo settled in and retired 11 batters consecutively at one point in the game. Notably, he did not issue any walks throughout the game, a significant achievement for the seasoned pitcher. On the other side, the Los Angeles Angels struggled to find their rhythm, losing 17 of their last 23 games due in part to a substantial number of players on the injured list. The Royals’ victory further emphasized the Angels’ difficulties, as they have yet to secure a series win at home this season.

Brady Singer, with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss and an ERA of 2.36, is set to pitch for the Royals during their upcoming 3-game series against the Seattle Mariners as part of their west coast tour. On the other side, George Kirby, with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses and an ERA of 4.15, will be the starting pitcher for the Mariners. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:40 p.m., and the pregame coverage will be broadcasted on Classic Hits KQNK 106.7 FM & 102.5 FM, starting at 8:00 p.m. live from T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
