Descendants of Orphan Train Riders and those interested in learning more about the history are invited to attend the 21st Annual Celebration honoring Orphan Train Riders. The event will begin on Thursday, June 6 at 1:30 pm at the museum in Concordia, Kansas, located at 300 Washington Street. A number of special events will continue through Saturday, June 7, ending with an awards ceremony and lunch.
The Keynote speaker for the Celebration will be the archivist from the Children’s Aid Society, Paul Clarke, New York City. Other presenters will include Andrea Warren, award-winning author of “We Rode the Orphan Trains,” National Orphan Train Complex (NOTC) Curator Heather Bigwood, and Lori Halfhide, Head Researcher for NOTC.
