Meet Marysville: A Gathering for All Residents

By Wayne Kruse

Meet Marysville will bring together local organizations, businesses and residents for a morning of conversation and connections Saturday, August 8, from 8-11 a.m. in conjunction with the Farmers Market. The event will take place throughout the 7th Street Corridor and the 700 block of Broadway.

Formerly known as Welcome to Marysville, the event has been expanded to include everyone. Whether someone recently moved to town or has lived in Marysville for decades, Meet Marysville offers an opportunity to learn more about local organizations, businesses, clubs, churches, volunteer opportunities, recreational activities and community events.

“Welcome to Marysville was created to help newcomers get connected, but we realized it was important to open the event to everyone,” said Mandy Cook, president of OneMarysville. “Meet Marysville reflects what we want the event to be—a place where people can learn more about their community, meet others and find new ways to get involved.”

Organizations, nonprofits, businesses, churches, service clubs and community groups will be available to answer questions, share information and visit with attendees. The event is designed to encourage conversations that help people find activities, services and opportunities that match their interests.

Meet Marysville is for people of all ages and at every stage of life. New residents can learn how the community works, while longtime residents may discover organizations, activities and opportunities they did not know about.

“We hope people come away having met someone new,” Cook said. “Sometimes all it takes is one conversation to help someone feel more connected to the community.”Businesses and organizations interested in participating should reserve a space by Friday, July 24. OneMarysville will provide each participant with one table and two chairs.

To reserve a space or learn more, contact OneMarysville at 785-562-3101 or wayne@onemarysville.com.
