Discover Local Vendors at Marysville Farmers Market

By Wayne Kruse

Fresh produce, baked goods and handmade items will once again fill the Seventh Street Corridor from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marysville Farmers Market.

This week’s market will include two special features in addition to the vendors shoppers enjoy each week. Shoppers are invited to bring their pets to the market, and local childcare providers will be featured from 9 to 10 a.m. as part of a special effort to help families and community members learn more about childcare in Marshall County.

Tracie’s Grooming Service will be part of the pet-focused activities, offering pet education and treats. Pet owners can stop by to visit, ask questions and learn more about caring for their animals.

Several vendors will be at the market Saturday, including Jordan Wheeler, who will sell jewelry.

From 9 to 10 a.m., children are encouraged to bring their favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal to visit with a local childcare provider and receive a free coloring book. Providers also will be available during that time for informal conversations about their work, what they enjoy most about caring for children and what it takes to become a childcare provider.

“Childcare is one of those things people do not always think about until they need it, but it affects almost everything,” said Delaney Budenbender, chairperson of OneMarysville’s economic vitality committee. “It affects parents going to work and businesses finding employees. OneMarysville is working on childcare because it is tied directly to our workforce and the future of our community.”

The Marysville Farmers Market is sponsored by Marshall County Sports and Recreation. OneMarysville helps coordinate the market’s Special Edition activities.
