MARSHALL & WASHINGTON COUNTIES — Voters across Marshall and Washington counties went to the polls to finalize primary choices for county commission seats, state offices, federal races, and local ballot measures.

Incumbents Retain County Commission Seats

Both incumbent First District County Commissioners successfully defended their seats:

  • Marshall County: Jon Ungerer secured his seat as First District Commissioner with 53% of the vote, defeating challenger Chris Denner, who finished at 47%.
  • Washington County: Scott Zabokrtsky retained his First District seat with 69% of the vote against Lee Hynek’s 31% (results reflective of current counts prior to final advance ballot inclusion).

Frankfort Sales Tax Renewal Passes Decisively

Voters in the city of Frankfort overwhelmingly approved a ballot question to renew a half-percent local sales tax for an additional four years. The measure passed with 72% voting in favor (123 votes) and 28% opposed (49 votes).

Statewide Judicial Amendment Shows Split Local Outcome

The proposed statewide Judicial Amendment met differing responses across county lines:

  • Marshall County: Voters narrowly rejected the amendment, with 52% voting “No” and 48% voting “Yes.”
  • Washington County: Voters approved the measure locally with 61% voting “Yes” and 39% voting “No,” despite the amendment being defeated on a statewide basis.
