MARYSVILLE, KS — A familiar face is set to return to the Marshall County Attorney’s office following a decision by local committee members.
During a convention held on July 1st, the Marshall County Republican Precinct Committee selected Meghan Voracek of Seneca to step back into the role, according to a report from The Marysville Advocate. Voracek, who was the sole applicant for the position, previously served as the county’s chief prosecutor from 2019 to 2022 before stepping away to return to private practice due to family obligations.
Voracek’s nomination has been officially forwarded to Governor Laura Kelly, who is responsible for finalizing the appointment.
The vacancy comes as current Marshall County Attorney Brad Lippert of Sabetha prepares for retirement. Since Voracek’s departure in 2022, Lippert has pulled double duty, serving simultaneously as the county attorney for both Marshall and Nemaha counties. His retirement will take effect on August 1st.
Once officially appointed, Voracek will serve out the remainder of Lippert’s unexpired term, which runs through 2028.
