Pull a few weeds. Pick up a little trash. Spend time with friends. That’s the idea behind Clean Up and Hang Out, a community cleanup scheduled for Thursday, July 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in downtown Marysville.
Volunteers will meet at the OneMarysville office, 617 Broadway, to receive assignments before spreading throughout downtown to tackle small projects, including pulling weeds, picking up trash and cleaning curbs and gutters. The cleanup will take about 25 to 30 minutes.
Afterward, everyone is invited to gather in the space between OneMarysville, 617 Broadway, and CES Group, Inc., 605 Broadway, for hot dogs, chips, drinks and sweets. CES Group will fire up the grill.
“The cleanup is about taking pride in Marysville, but the hang out matters just as much,” OneMarysville Board President Mandy Cook said. “We want people to spend a little time making downtown look better, then stay and get to know one another. Jeff Siegler reminded us that strong communities grow when people take ownership of them, and this event does that.”
Individuals, families, businesses, civic groups and organizations are encouraged to participate. There is no cost to attend, and volunteers may stay for as much or as little of the evening as their schedules allow.
