Missouri Woman Killed, Two Children Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 69 in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. — A Raytown, Missouri, woman lost her life and two young children were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle rollover accident in Johnson County on Wednesday evening.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the crash occurred just after 6:30 p.m. on northbound U.S. Highway 69, just south of 159th Street.

Investigators report that a northbound 2021 Honda Accord, driven by 26-year-old Nathaniel Harper Trumble of Wichita, came to an abrupt stop in traffic. A second vehicle, a 2008 Honda Accord driven by Jeffrey William Davis, 40, of Kansas City, Missouri, swerved to avoid colliding with Trumble’s vehicle. Davis lost control, striking the stopped car and causing his vehicle to roll over.

A passenger in Davis’s vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Faith Monae Lockett of Raytown, Missouri, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was transported to the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Emergency responders transported two young passengers from Davis’s vehicle—a 2-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl—to Children’s Mercy Hospital. Davis was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The extent of their conditions has not been released.

Trumble and a passenger in his vehicle were uninjured in the crash.

According to the KHP crash report, Lockett was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, and the two young children were not properly restrained. The accident remains under investigation by state authorities.
