Lincoln, NE – A staff member has been suspended at the YRTC Hastings following a routine security check. That check, conducted to ensure safety and compliance with facility guidelines, revealed notes containing inappropriate content on the desk of a youth.
Upon discovery, DHHS promptly contacted the child abuse hotline, law enforcement, and the Office of Inspector General. The staff member is suspended pending further investigation.
“The top priority of the agency is the safety and well-being of youth in our care,” said CEO Steve Corsi. “In any instance of alleged impropriety or inappropriate behavior, we act decisively out of an abundance of caution.”
DHHS can make no further comment until an investigation is completed.
