The USD 273 Board of Education extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Travis for his 13 years of dedicated service as Superintendent. During his tenure, the district made significant progress in advancing individualized education and expanding opportunities for student success. These accomplishments reflect not only Mr. Travis’s leadership, but also the collective efforts of the district’s administrators, teachers, staff, and students, who continue to set USD 273 apart.

As the Board began our search for the district’s next Superintendent, its priority was to identify a leader who honors Beloit’s rich history and recognizes the exceptional talent within USD 273. The Board acknowledges that the incoming Superintendent will lead a talent-rich district, supported by dedicated educators and staff along with students who actively pursue every opportunity available to them. However, to remain a leader in education, USD 273 must continue to build upon its strengths while also improving in areas where growth is needed. The Board sought a leader who embraces the district’s culture and people, while also demonstrating the vision and courage to drive continuous improvement.
To support this effort, the Board retained the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) to facilitate a comprehensive search process. The process included community focus groups, a public survey, and an extensive application period. The Board reviewed twelve applications, including both internal and external candidates, and interviewed four highly qualified finalists. These interviews helped clarify the Board’s vision for the future of USD 273 and highlighted the strong leadership talent available in our candidate pool.
Over the past two weeks, the Board devoted extensive time to evaluating the candidates’ qualifications, considering their individual strengths, and assessing how each aligned with the desired characteristics identified for our next Superintendent. Our discussions were thorough and thoughtful, and the high caliber of the candidates made our decision especially challenging.
After careful consideration, the Board determined that Casey Seyfert possesses the skills, character, and leadership qualities necessary to guide the district forward. Mr. Seyfert is committed to maintaining high standards of excellence and working collaboratively with staff, teachers, and students to advance opportunities and drive outcomes across the district.
The USD 273 Board of Education is pleased to move forward with the approval of the contract for its next Superintendent, Casey Seyfert, and looks forward to the growth and continued success of the district under his leadership.
