Angels Triumph Over Royals, Adell Shines in 4-3 Victory

Kansas City, MO — Jo Adell was the hero for the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night, driving in every run in a narrow 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Adell’s clutch performance, which included a go-ahead home run for the second consecutive game, helped the Angels secure the first two games of the series.

Adell’s Offensive Heroics

With the Angels trailing 2-0 in the sixth inning, Adell stepped to the plate with two runners on. He wasted no time, launching a three-run homer to center field on the first pitch he saw from Royals reliever John Schreiber. This gave the Angels a 3-2 lead and marked his 33rd home run of the season, a new career high.

Adell wasn’t finished. In the eighth inning, with the score tied 3-3, he delivered a two-out single that scored Yoán Moncada, giving the Angels a decisive 4-3 advantage. His four RBIs on the night brought his season total to 90, also a career best.

Pitching Duel and Key Plays

Royals rookie Ryan Bergert pitched well through five innings, allowing just one hit and leaving with a 2-0 lead before issuing a leadoff walk in the sixth. Angels starter Caden Dana, making his fourth career start, was solid, giving up one earned run over five innings.

The Royals tied the game in the seventh inning on an Adam Frazier double. However, the Angels’ bullpen held strong, with Reid Detmers closing out the game in the ninth for his third save.

A tense moment for the Royals came in the eighth inning when Andrew Chafin, the Angels’ reliever, struck out both Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino with a runner on second to preserve the 4-3 lead.

Royals’ Struggles and Milestones

The Royals, now 70-69, have lost three in a row and seven of their last 11. Despite the team’s struggles, Salvador Perez achieved a personal milestone with a seventh-inning double, which tied Frank White for third on the franchise’s all-time extra-base hits list with 625.

Angels star Mike Trout remained out of the lineup for the second consecutive game due to a skin infection on his left arm.

The series concludes Thursday with Angels RHP Kyle Hendricks (6-9, 4.89 ERA) facing off against Royals LHP Noah Cameron (7-6, 2.92).
