Network Kansas Launches Interest Rate Reduction Initiative for Rural eCommunities with grant from Patterson Family Foundation

KANSAS – 1.1.2025 – In a groundbreaking effort to support entrepreneurs in rural Kansas, Network Kansas, in collaboration with the Patterson Family Foundation, proudly announces the launch of theĀ Interest Rate Reduction Initiative for Rural eCommunities. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of high interest rates and inflation on startup and growth-oriented businesses in rural areas, fostering entrepreneurship and economic development across 95 counties in the state of Kansas.

Available fromĀ January 1 to December 31, 2025Ā (or until funds are depleted), this one-time grant will work in tandem with Network Kansas’ GrowKS and eCommunity loan programs to lessen the effective total interest burden on loan recipients. By reducing financing costs, the program empowers entrepreneurs to focus on scaling their businesses and creating local impact.

ā€œThis grant represents a shared commitment between Network Kansas and the Patterson Family Foundation to uplift rural communities,ā€ said Sarah LaRosh, Director of eCommunity Partnerships at Network Kansas. ā€œIn a time of economic uncertainty, we are providing a tangible solution to help rural entrepreneurs thrive.ā€

How It Works

  • Entrepreneurs can apply for a small business loan through Network Kansas’ GrowKS or eCommunity loan processes.
  • Network Kansas reviews each loan application automatically for grant consideration.
  • Once approved, grant funds will be disbursed in tandem with the loan dollars, directly reducing the interest rate on the participant’s loan.
  • Annual impact data, including business growth and employment stats, will be collected to measure program success.
  • Only one grant per Employer Identification Number (EIN) can be awarded.

Why It Matters

High-interest rates and inflation create significant barriers for entrepreneurs, particularly in rural areas where access to capital is often limited. By addressing this challenge, the Interest Rate Reduction Initiative allows business owners to allocate more resources toward growth, innovation, and job creation.

Building an Entrepreneurial Legacy

The Interest Rate Reduction Initiative aligns with Network Kansas’ mission to foster entrepreneurship through funding and support. Through the eCommunity coach network and in partnership with organizations such as the state’s Certified Development Companies (CDCs), the program ensures a holistic approach to nurturing entrepreneurial success.

ā€œThrough initiatives like this, we are not just funding businesses—we are building stronger communities,ā€ said Maria Flynn, President and CEO of the Patterson Family Foundation.
