Residents residing north and west of Randolph in Riley County are urged to make necessary preparations for a potential evacuation at short notice. The ongoing Axelton Hill Road fire, located to the north of Randolph, is currently uncontained and spreading rapidly.
Fueled by strong winds, the wildfire is swiftly moving in a northwestern direction, posing a significant threat to the surrounding areas. Specifically, individuals living between Green-Randolph Road and Rose Hill Road, extending west to the Riley County/Clay County border, are advised to remain vigilant and ready to evacuate promptly if required.
As a precautionary measure, US Highway 77 has been closed due to poor visibility caused by the wildfire. It is essential for residents in the affected regions to stay informed, follow safety guidelines, and be prepared to evacuate swiftly to ensure their well-being and safety.
