A high-speed chase ensued early this morning after a Marshall County deputy pursued an armed and dangerous suspect from Manhattan. The suspect, involved in recent burglaries, had stolen their grandmother’s car and a handgun.
The pursuit led to Blue Rapids, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Local law enforcement, aided by a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter, established a perimeter and initiated a search.
A tip from a vigilant citizen led officers to the suspect’s last known location near Riverside Park in Blue Rapids. With the assistance of the helicopter, the suspect was apprehended without incident behind some bushes and a tree.
