Fort Riley to Host Special Olympics Torch Run, Expect Traffic Delays

FORT RILEY, KS – The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, a celebrated event in support of the Special Olympics, will once again make its way through Fort Riley. The Fort Riley law enforcement team is set to participate, carrying the “Flame of Hope” and contributing to a statewide effort to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics athletes.

The torch is expected to arrive at the Ogden Gate around 1 p.m., where it will be received by Fort Riley runners from the Riley County Police Department. From there, the Fort Riley team will proudly carry the torch along Huebner Road to the Grant Gate. At this point, the torch will be handed off to runners from the Junction City Police Department and Geary County Sheriff’s Office, continuing its journey.

Motorists in the area should anticipate potential delays on Huebner Road during the run. Drivers are advised to approach the formation with caution and be mindful of the runners and accompanying personnel.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a significant fundraising and public awareness initiative for Special Olympics, with law enforcement agencies across the state participating annually. Fort Riley’s involvement underscores the community’s ongoing commitment to supporting Special Olympics Kansas and its athletes.
