Kansas Falls To Cincinnati In Big 12 Tournament Second Round 72-52

In a game between Cincinnati and Kansas, Cincinnati emerged victorious with a score of 72-52. The absence of injured players Hunter Dickinson and Kevin McCullar Jr. proved to be a disadvantage for Kansas, allowing Cincinnati to take advantage and secure the win. Dan Skillings Jr. led the scoring for Cincinnati with 25 points, while John Newman III contributed 12 points and Simas Lukosius added 10. This win was crucial for Cincinnati’s chances of making it to the NCAA Tournament, and they now have another opportunity to prove themselves against No. 14 Baylor in the quarterfinal round.

Kansas faced a challenging situation as they trailed behind Cincinnati with just over 10 minutes left in the game. The absence of injured players and additional injuries during the game further hindered their chances of a comeback. Despite KJ Adams Jr. scoring 22 points and Elmarko Jackson finishing with five points, Kansas was unable to close the gap. Day Day Thomas and Lukosius were key players for Cincinnati, with Thomas showcasing his three-point shooting skills and Lukosius dominating around the rim. By the end of the first half, Kansas found themselves facing a significant deficit of 38-25.

Kansas attempted a comeback in the second half by holding Cincinnati to a poor shooting performance. With the support of their home crowd, they managed to narrow the gap to 40-38 with 13:30 remaining in the game. However, Kansas struggled to convert open shots, allowing Cincinnati to maintain their lead. Ultimately, Cincinnati’s strong performance and Kansas’ missed opportunities led to Cincinnati’s victory.
