COLES COUNTY, Illinois – A Kansas Amber Alert suspect, 32-year-old Christopher K. Barnshaw, is now in custody after being apprehended by police in Mattoon, Illinois. New details have emerged regarding the capture, which also led to the safe recovery of a two-year-old boy at the center of the alert.

Topeka authorities have arrested 19-year-old Pearson Carter III in connection with the June 3 fatal shooting of 29-year-old Ian A. Mwaniki.
