Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Montgomery County Claims One Life

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, KS – A tragic two-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning in Montgomery County has resulted in one fatality.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the crash occurred just before 5 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 4300 and County Road 2000, approximately one mile north of U.S. 166.

The KHP report states that a 2003 Chevy Silverado, driven by 41-year-old Cassandra L. Lukens of Coffeyville, was traveling northbound on County Road 4300. Lukens’ vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, and collided with a westbound 2001 Buick LeSabre driven by 65-year-old Brian R. Griswold, also of Coffeyville.

Griswold was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. His body was transported to Frontier Forensics. Lukens did not sustain any injuries in the collision.

The KHP confirmed that both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
