Statewide Manhunt Underway for Teen in Wichita Homicide

Wichita, KS – Law enforcement agencies across Kansas are actively searching for 18-year-old Jaden Watts, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a homicide that occurred in Wichita last month. The Wichita Police Department has issued a felony pick-up order for Watts.

The incident unfolded just before 4:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22nd, when police responded to an EMS call at a home in the 14000 block of East Twinlake Drive in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Reboledo. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a victim, later identified as 24-year-old Demarc Burgess, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Burgess was rushed to a local hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead.

Authorities believe Jaden Watts may possess crucial information regarding the fatal shooting and are urging the public to come forward with any details about his whereabouts.

Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting stemmed from a disturbance between a suspect and Burgess during a gathering at the residence. Police indicate that the individuals involved were known to each other, and the incident is not considered a random act of violence.

Anyone with information regarding the location of Jaden Watts is urged to call 911 immediately. Individuals can also contact WPD Investigators directly at 316-268-4407. For those wishing to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
