The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has confirmed that several schools in southeast Kansas received threats last week.
In response to a social media threat made against schools in Chanute, the Chanute Police Department, USD 413, and the KBI, in conjunction with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and Allen County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended a juvenile suspect.
The case is currently under investigation, and the findings will be submitted to the Neosho County Attorney’s Office for potential charges.
Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity or safety concerns related to schools. They emphasize that threats, even if false, are serious offenses and can lead to severe consequences.
