Storm season insurance claims cost $442 million in 2023
Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt released data on 2023 storm damage claims in Kansas, showing 147,710 claims amounting to $442,822,099.11. The Department collected data from all property and casualty insurance companies. The highest claim amount was in Johnson County, while the lowest was in Greeley County. K-14 bridge repair to begin Monday in Mitchell County
The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin bridge repair on K-14 in Mitchell County from May 20. Temporary traffic signals will direct one lane of traffic through construction, leading to delays of up to 10 minutes. The prime contractor for this $627,960.50 project is L & M Contractors Inc. Work is scheduled for completion in September, weather permitting. Motorists are urged to be cautious in work zones.
