Stars, Stripes and Swinging Fore the Arts Planned July 25

By Wayne Kruse

Stars, Stripes and Swinging Fore the Arts will bring golf, live music and patriotic fun to the Marysville Country Club on Saturday, July 25.

The annual golf tournament benefits the Marshall County Arts Cooperative and helps support arts programming throughout Marshall County, including special exhibits, concerts, community performances and other arts experiences.

The tournament is a four-person scramble. Registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m., followed by announcements at 9 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $100 per golfer or $400 per team and includes green fees, breakfast and lunch. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place in two flights, and flag prizes will be offered throughout the course. Patriotic costumes are encouraged.

The weekend will begin Friday, July 24, with Stars, Stripes and Songs featuring Kayn & Co. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the Marysville Country Club.

Live music will continue Saturday with Live Circuit, featuring Mike Wiegers, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The band plays a mix of classic rock from the 1960s through the 1990s, along with classic rock and blues party songs. Mike Minihan will perform from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., bringing classic rock and country together with an easygoing sound.

Proceeds from the tournament help MCAC present programs such as the Joe Oswalt Exhibition at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art, the 1st Infantry Division Band concert in Axtell, the Grand Ol’ Christmas Show, Dueling Divas, Divos & Duets and other arts opportunities.

Teams should register by July 17. Checks may be made to MCAC and mailed to MCAC, PO Box 509, Marysville, KS 66508.
