A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of central and north central Kansas as snow is expected to move into the region Friday evening.
The National Weather Service Topeka, National Weather Service Wichita, and National Weather Service Hastings have all placed counties across the area under a Winter Weather Advisory from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Forecasters say snow is expected to develop during the evening hours, with total accumulations generally ranging from one to two inches. Some isolated locations could see slightly higher amounts.
Counties included in the advisory are Cloud, Clay, Riley, Ottawa, Dickinson, Geary, Russell, Lincoln, Barton, Ellsworth, Saline, Rooks, Osborne, and Mitchell.
Cities impacted include Junction City, Manhattan, Abilene, Clay Center, Concordia, Minneapolis, Herington, Russell, Great Bend, Salina, Ellsworth, Lincoln, Beloit, Osborne, Stockton, Downs, Plainville, Codell, Wilson, Bennington, and Sylvan Grove.
Officials warn that roads may become slippery and conditions could change quickly as snow falls overnight. Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling.
