SHAWNEE COUNTY, KS – A Sunday afternoon crash at the junction of U.S. 75 and U.S. 24 Highways left two teenagers injured after their vehicle struck bridge supports.

A fatal head-on collision occurred Wednesday evening in Cloud County, Kansas, on US-24 highway. An eastbound vehicle crossed the centerline, colliding with an oncoming vehicle that rolled and hit a guardrail. The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating, and details about the individuals involved have not yet been disclosed.

Starting April 14, the Kansas Department of Transportation will resurface K-128 and K-228 in Jewell and Mitchell counties. The $2.23 million project, managed by Dustrol Inc., involves a surface recycle and chip seal over 19.4 miles, with completion anticipated in June. Drivers should expect delays and follow posted signs.

Kyle Railroad will close K-9 near Beloit at 6 a.m. for track repairs. K-9 will be closed from U.S. 81 to Beloit and traffic directed to detour on U.S. 24. Starting June 3, BNSF Railway will close U.S. 24 from U.S. 81 to Beloit in Cloud and Mitchell counties to upgrade tracks. U.S. 24 will reopen after a week, followed by a week-long closure of K-9.
