KDOT Approves Over $11 Million in Marshall County Highway and Bridge Projects

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has approved contract bids for two significant infrastructure projects in Marshall County, totaling more than $11 million. The bid letting took place on November 19th in Topeka.

Bridge Replacement on K-9 Highway

The first project involves the replacement of a bridge on K-9 Highway over the Robidoux Creek, located approximately 11 miles east of the K-9/U.S. 77 east junction.

  • Contractor: United Contractors, Inc., of Johnston, Iowa
  • Contract Amount: Nearly $5.6 million

U.S. 36 Mill and Overlay

KDOT also approved a contract for a mill and overlay project—a process of removing the top layer of asphalt and replacing it—on a 16-mile stretch of U.S. 36 Highway.

  • Contractor: Hall Brothers Inc., of Marysville
  • Contract Amount: More than $5.5 million

This work will take place from North 20th Street in Marysville to the U.S. 36/K-87 junction.

Construction start dates for both projects have not yet been announced.
