Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Royals capped off a remarkable four-game series sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a resounding 10-0 victory on Thursday at Kauffman Stadium. Bobby Witt Jr. led the offensive charge with four hits, while Kris Bubic delivered a stellar seven-inning performance on the mound.
Salvador Perez drove in three runs as the Royals extended their winning streak to six games. Jonathan India also contributed significantly with two hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored.
Bubic (4-2) was in command throughout his outing, allowing just six hits while striking out seven and walking only one. Chris Stratton and Steven Cruz each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game, securing the six-hit shutout for the Royals.
The Royals’ offense proved potent with two outs, scoring their first six runs in such situations. They jumped ahead early in the first inning against White Sox starter Davis Martin (1-4). Vinnie Pasquantino singled and later scored on Perez’s double, his ninth in the last twelve games.
Witt extended the lead in the third, singling and stealing second before being driven in by another Perez single, making it 2-0. The fifth inning saw Witt single again, steal his 13th base of the season, and score on a two-run triple by Maikel Garcia. India and Witt then hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the sixth, further padding the Royals’ lead.
Martin lasted just 4 1/3 innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits.
Chicago had a golden opportunity to score in the fifth, putting runners on the corners with no outs. However, their rally was stifled when Andrew Vaughn, who led off the inning with a double, was thrown out at home by Garcia on a ground ball to third. Brooks Baldwin then grounded into an inning-ending double play.
The loss marks a dubious milestone for the White Sox, who have now lost a club-record 11 consecutive games at Kauffman Stadium.
Looking ahead, the Royals will begin a three-game series against the visiting Boston Red Sox on Friday. Right-hander Michael Lorenzen (3-3, 4.23 ERA) is slated to start for Kansas City, while the Red Sox will counter with right-hander Hunter Dobbins (2-1, 3.78 ERA) for his fourth career start. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Superstar Country 102.5 FM & 1530 AM KQNK, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. from Kauffman Stadium.
