K-128 and K-228 resurfacing to begin April 14

Beginning on Monday, April 14, the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin resurfacing K-128 and K-228 in Jewell and Mitchell counties.

Project work will consist of a surface recycle and chip seal on 19.4 miles of K-128 and K-228 in Jewell and Mitchell counties. Work on K-128 will occur from the U.S. 24/K-128 junction and continue north to the K-128/U.S. 36 in Mitchell and Jewell counties. Work on K-228 will occur from the K-228/K-128 junction and continue east to the end of the route (Ionia) in Jewell County. (See map below)

During construction, flaggers and a pilot car will be used to guide one lane of traffic through construction at a reduced speed. Drivers should be prepared for a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules.

Dustrol Inc., of Towanda, is the prime contractor for this $2.23 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in June, weather permitting.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit www.kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. For updates on highway projects in north central Kansas, visit https://www.ksdot.gov/bureaus/offTransInfo/NCNRelese.asp.

Boil Water Advisory Re-Issued for the City of Haddam, Washington County

Residents of Washington County are advised to boil their water for at least one minute before drinking, preparing food, or using it for ice cubes. This precaution comes after a waterline break at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's (KDHE) public water supply system, which resulted in a loss of pressure and potential bacterial contamination. KDHE will continue to monitor the situation and issue any necessary rescind orders.
