MANHATTAN, Kansas — The Kansas Department of Agriculture has announced the results of elections for the state’s five grain commodity commissions — corn, grain sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers and wheat. These elections took place in Districts VII, VIII, and IX in the eastern region of the state.
Kansas Corn Commission
District VII: Griff Howard, Hiawatha
District VIII: JD Hanna, Silver Lake
District IX: Chad Epler, Columbus
Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission
District VII: No candidates ran for commissioner. The Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission will appoint this position.
District VIII: Kevin Kniebel, White City
District IX: Nicole Small, Neodesha
Kansas Soybean Commission
District VII: Gary Robbins, Emmett
District VIII: Robert Haselwood, Berryton
District IX: Michael Froebe, Mound Valley
Kansas Sunflower Commission
No candidates ran for commissioner in Districts VII, VIII, or IX. The Kansas Sunflower Commission will appoint these positions.
Kansas Wheat Commission
Districts VII, VIII, IX: Nathan Larson, Riley
Commodity commissions are grower-led organizations committed to supporting the economic viability of their industries and fostering continuous improvement in their respective commodities. Commissioners serve three-year terms, which will begin on April 1, 2025. They oversee how check-off funds are invested in areas of market development, education, promotion, and research.
