CONCORDIA, Kan. — A multi-agency investigation into crimes against children has culminated in a 19.5-year prison sentence for a local man, the Concordia Police Department announced.
David Lucas Brown, 21, was convicted on August 18 of Rape and Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child.He was sentenced to 235 months (19 years and 7 months) in state prison.
The conviction marks the end of a detailed investigation that began on January 28, when police first received allegations regarding child exploitation.Over three months, Concordia Police Department detectives executed more than 10 search warrants, seized and analyzed multiple electronic devices, and conducted extensive interviews with the suspect, victims, and witnesses.
Investigators collaborated closely with the Abilene Police Department and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) throughout the inquiry.
Brown was arrested and booked into the Cloud County Jail on February 13, where he remained incarcerated leading up to his sentencing.
The investigation was spearheaded by Detective Emma Thyfault and Lieutenant Adam Sorell.Concordia Police Chief Brent Gering commended their dedicated work, as well as the support provided by regional and national partner agencies.
“Cases involving crimes against children require extensive investigative work, dedication, and cooperation among law enforcement agencies,” Chief Gering said.“I am proud of the commitment demonstrated by our officers and investigators throughout this investigation. Their hard work helped ensure that this case was thoroughly investigated and ultimately resulted in a conviction.”
