KDNS/KZDY Announces a New Local Station Manager

We are thrilled to announce area native, Lydia Housh, has come on board as station manager with KDNS 94.1 and KZDY 96.3. Many of you may be familiar with Housh as an owner at Becker Autos & Trailers and now with Lazy H Auto & Campground in Glen Elder.

“I am excited to take on this role at the station. I feel since Wade and Dusty left, there has been a local void that I can help to at least partially fill. I plan to first get the station back on track with updated content and local ads. We won’t be able to get into sports right away, and that will take a bit; but with the help of my husband (Blake Housh) we are planning to bring back some live news and a new morning show down the road!” said Housh. “I believe local radio is important for our small towns and it’s something we don’t want to risk losing. Even if the station does sell, we want to do what we can to help keep it in local hands and want to do our part in helping to keep it here now! It will take us some time, but with the support of our local businesses and residents, I know we will see the stations thrive once again!”

Housh graduated from Downs High School in 2002 and received her bachelor’s degree in mass media advertising from Washburn University in Topeka in 2006. She then worked at WIBW-TV in Topeka before moving back and opening a 2nd Becker Autos location in Beloit. Lydia then joined in ownership with her parents, Alvin and Deb Becker and husband Blake Housh to form Becker Autos & Trailers in Beloit. They were open for over 16 years in Beloit, when they decided it was time to scale back. This January, Blake and Lydia added Lazy H Auto to their lakeview campground just across from Glen Elder State Park off Hwy 24 and 128 west of Glen Elder.

“I won’t be taking on this role at the station alone. I suspect you will see a lot of involvement from my husband and others helping with this venture, too. I wouldn’t know what to do if we weren’t busy! Luckily, we have a lot of support from our friends and family in all we do. I think with a little organization, a positive attitude and a desire to get more local involvement back to the station, it will be a positive change and a lot of fun for everyone.”

To reach Lydia with questions or for advertising information and updates please email: KDNSKZDY@nckcn.com or leave a message at 785-545-3220. Lydia is working out of the office often, so you can also text/call Lydia at the Lazy H at 785-545-4489 for a more immediate response.
