Mets Top Royals 6-1 Ending 7-Game Win Streak

In a game between the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals, Pete Alonso hit a home run and Luis Severino secured his first win for the Mets. This victory ended the Royals’ seven-game winning streak, with the final score being 6-1 in favor of the Mets. The Mets’ offense was strong, scoring five runs off Royals’ starter Michael Wacha, with two outs. The Mets have been performing well recently, winning six of their last eight games after a slow start to the season.

The Royals, who had just completed a successful 7-0 homestand, were hoping to extend their winning streak to eight games.

Luis Severino, in his third start for the Mets, pitched five innings and allowed only one hit, which was a leadoff home run by Salvador Perez. Despite issuing four walks, Severino was able to limit the damage and strike out four batters. The Mets’ bullpen also performed well, with four relievers combining to allow only two more hits for the Royals. Jeff McNeil had an impressive game at the plate, contributing three hits to the Mets’ total of 14 hits.

The Royals will face the Mets at 12:40 p.m. Saturday in game two of the three-game series in New York. Pregame is set for 12:00 p.m. on Classic Hits KQNK 106.7 FM, 102.5 FM & 1530 AM.
