A Clay Center resident, David Dean, was involved in a three vehicle collision that occurred approximately 15 miles north of Clay Center on Thursday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly after 4:30 p.m. when Dean’s SUV veered across the center line and collided with an oncoming Dodge Caravan. Subsequently, the SUV was struck by an oncoming semi. As a result of the crash, Dean, aged 64, sustained a suspected serious injury and was subsequently transported to Clay County Medical Center for treatment.
Fortunately, the two occupants of the Caravan, who were also from Clay Center, did not sustain any injuries that required hospitalization. Additionally, the driver of the semi, hailing from Iowa, emerged from the accident unharmed. The Kansas Highway Patrol has confirmed that all three drivers involved in the collision were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident, ensuring their safety to a certain extent.
