HARVEY COUNTY, Kan. — An hours-long standoff ended peacefully Sunday morning after an armed man who barricaded himself inside a south Newton residence during a domestic violence investigation was taken into custody by local authorities.

COWLEY COUNTY — An Arkansas City man is being held on a $52,000 bond after a series of violent confrontations on Monday that began with an alleged domestic assault and ended with an attempt to seize an officer’s firearm.

HAYS, KS – A domestic disturbance call Saturday night escalated into a prolonged standoff that ended with a man’s death by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Hays Police Department. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has been called in to assist with the investigation.

A domestic incident in Pottawatomie County led to the arrest of Jaron Anthony Taitano, 37, in the Wabaunsee County Courthouse parking lot. The woman he allegedly stalked reported him while fleeing in her vehicle. Taitano faces charges of assault, stalking, and reckless driving, remaining in custody with no reported injuries.

Riley County police officer Stephen Clark, 42, was arrested for his involvement in a domestic incident. The investigation began with a report concerning unlawful acts with computers, with a 36-year-old woman as the victim. Clark was placed on administrative leave prior to arrest and posted a $4,000 bond afterward.
