Dinosaurs, Hamilton Sing-Alongs, and Book Spraying: Marysville Public Library Unveils Action-Packed July Calendar

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Public Library has announced its full lineup of free public programming for July, featuring an eclectic mix of prehistoric fun, musical sing-alongs, tech workshops, and community events designed for all ages.

While the library’s formal Summer Library Program wraps up on July 17, library staff note that the overall summer reading program will stretch through August 14. A particular highlight this season has been the wildly popular dinosaur trading card initiative, which has successfully engaged local youth aged 6 to 18.

Community members are encouraged to add the following free events to their calendars:

One-Time Events & Highlights

  • July 1 (6:00 PM) — The Library Where It Happened: A themed Hamilton sing-along event for musical theater fans.
  • July 2 (5:30 PM) — Science Meets Book Club: An adult book club discussing Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park. Marysville High School science teacher James Landoll will be on hand to bridge the gap between fiction and real-world science. Copies are available now with a valid library card.
  • July 3 (1:00 PM) — Patriotic Pop-Up Party: Featuring cake, a holiday craft, and a patriotic sing-along. Note: The library will close early at 2:00 PM following the event.
  • July 6 (6:00 PM) — Books Are Great Book Club: A discussion of the thriller All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers. Copies are currently available for checkout.
  • July 8 (6:00 PM) — Dino Movie Night: An after-hours event just for teens, featuring a movie and snacks.
  • July 9 (6:00 PM) — Dino Bingo: Prehistoric-themed bingo for kids aged 6 to 13.
  • July 15 (5:30 PM) — Dinosaur Stomp Dance Party: A high-energy event tailored for youth aged 6 to 13.
  • July 16 (1:00 PM) — From Albums to the Cloud: A tech workshop focusing on storing and backing up family memories. Part of the DOCK Grant series, the session will be presented by Danny from Blue Valley Technologies.
  • July 16 (5:30 PM) — Book Edge Spraying: A creative workshop for adults. Participants must bring their own book; the library will provide all edge-spraying craft materials.
  • July 22 (5:15 PM) — Library Board Meeting: Open to the public.

Ongoing & Weekly Programs

Youth Early Childhood Programs (Running through July 17):

  • Tuesdays at 10:30 AM: Summer Library Program for ages 3–5, featuring stories and activities.
  • Thursdays at 10:30 AM: Early childhood program tailored for babies up to 34 months.

Adult & Community Programs (Running through late July):

  • Mondays at 5:30 PM: Next Level Journaling sessions.
  • June 29 – July 3: Marysville Scavenger Hunt. Residents can hunt for 250 black squirrels hidden throughout the city. Finding one and bringing it to the library secures a prize.
  • All Month: The (Pub)lic Library Crawl continues through July. Patrons can visit participating area libraries, answer unique trivia questions, and enter to win prizes.
  • Anytime: A letter-writing station is set up in the library for visitors to write postcards and letters of appreciation to troops.

Summer Food Service Program Continuing

The library will also continue its vital role as a Summer Food Service Program distributor. Every Tuesday through August, the library will provide five free meals to children between the ages of 1 and 18.
