Mother’s Day Market brings thousands of people to Marysville each spring. Before this year’s 50th annual market, residents are invited to help downtown Marysville and Marysville City Park look ready for the weekend.

Clean Up and Hang Out, sponsored by OneMarysville, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at 617 Broadway. Volunteers will spend about an hour helping with basic cleanup projects, including picking up trash, pulling weeds and other small jobs downtown and in the park before Mother’s Day Market, set for May 9-10 in Marysville City Park.

After the cleanup, volunteers and community members are invited to gather in front of Sarge’s Sports Bar, 718 Broadway, for live music by Kayn & Co. and a free cookout with hot dogs, chips and water hosted by LandMark Implement.

“This gives people a reason to come together,” said Mandy Cook, OneMarysville board president. “We can spend an hour helping Marysville look its best, then stay downtown, listen to music, eat together and enjoy each other’s company. That is the whole point of Clean Up and Hang Out.”

The event is open to everyone. Individuals, families, businesses, organizations and groups are invited to take part. No registration is required.

The next Clean Up and Hang Out is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, ahead of Big Blue River Days, set for June 5-6 in Marysville.
