SENECA, KAN. — Tournament officials have announced a major schedule change for the 12th Annual Thunder Classic. Due to a worsening weather forecast for the weekend, all final round games originally scheduled for Saturday have been moved up to Friday, Jan. 23.

The decision was made to ensure the safety of traveling teams and fans while guaranteeing that the championship matchups can be completed without interruption.

Friday Game Schedule (Main Gym)

The Main Gym will host the tournament’s premier matchups, including the 3rd-place games and the championship finals.

  • 3:15 PM: Girls 3rd Place Game
  • 4:45 PM: Boys 3rd Place Game
  • Following 4:45 PM Game: Jerry Odum Three-Point Shootout Finals
  • 6:15 PM: Girls Championship Game
  • 7:45 PM: Boys Championship Game

Secondary Gym & Consolation Brackets

Action will also take place in the Secondary Gym to determine the 5th and 7th place finishers. Officials are working to stagger these start times to prevent teams from the same school from playing simultaneously.

  • 3:00 PM: Campus Boys (5th or 7th Place Game)
  • Remaining Games: To be announced (Staggered starts)

Note to Fans: This schedule remains tentative. Tournament directors noted that game times may be adjusted slightly based on official availability.

“Thank you for your flexibility and understanding in this matter,” tournament organizers shared in a statement. “We will inform everyone of any adjustments as they are made.”

The Thunder Classic has been a staple of the high school basketball mid-season since 2014, and despite the shift in timing, the atmosphere for Friday night’s double-header is expected to be electric.
